This is a piece of Grandma Prothero's Chocolate Cake. It's an old family recipe, but SO EASY to make. It's so moist you don't even have to frost it! My husband and our three boys have guys night either on Friday or Saturday and sometimes both. They go to the family room and watch a movie and then sleep out there and the rest of the house is mine. I decided to surprise them with this cake tonight. They were all very appreciative of how I spent girl time!

I had the privilege of photographing a homecoming from Iraq today. It was a true pleasure! I'm looking forward to the family shoot next week. Thank You for your service to our country!

It's not every day you see a bald eagle! We were coming home from school today and two of my sons in the back seat saw this guy on the top of an apartment complex. I pulled over switched lenses on my camera and got these two shots before he flew away. What a majestic bird!

Where there's smoke there's fire... This is a shot of the smoke from the "Quarry Fire" that burned many acres on Fort Carson Army Base. It was one of two that started around 10am. It was burning about 6-8 miles from our house. The high winds made it very difficult to contain.

I could not resist taking a photo of the beautiful sunset on the way home tonight. I thought the tree added interest. The colors change so quickly as the sun sets. Must enjoy God's beauty while it lasts!

Today was my day to teach in the toddler room at church. This was my first Sunday to work in our new building. I had an awesome group of kids and we had a great time :)

Have you ever heard of a cowlick? OK, this might be a different kind but I had to get a pic of it! This is my son, Porter and our steer, Bob. OK to be correct this is a "steerlick". Porter had a dog treat that Bob wanted and he kept licking his ear as that's where Porter kept playing around and putting it! It was too funny!
